The Project: Victorian cottage sash window replacement with new composite front door

Oxshott, Surrey

Oxshott is a suburban village in the borough of Elmbridge in Surrey, England. Oxshott includes hilly acidic heath which is partly wooded and occupies the land between the large towns of Esher and Leatherhead.

A great many of Oxshott’s residential areas are on gated private roads. This, combined with the large and desirable properties that form much of the village’s housing stock, contributes to Oxshott’s status as the “most expensive village in England”

What they wanted:

A full house replacement of all the 150 year old original sash windows to brand new uPVC double glazed sash windows and a new secure composite front door.

How they found us: 

We had supplied and fitted two small windows at the back previously and were very happy with the price and work.

What were the old windows and door like: 

All the old single pane sash windows were original from 150 years ago! So were very much in need of an upgrade! I could hear and feel the wind whistle through them at times. And with the front door being so old and cracked, again the wind would come through it and I’m not even sure how secure it was either!

How will it change your living: 

It will make such a difference to me, not so much for the dogs! Every room is now warmer, with the large bay window in the sitting room making us all warm and cosy over the winter. The only whistling is from me now! The new front door is very secure and shuts very well. With the handle, I’m able to open and shut it easily.

What were the fitters like: 

They were lovely! Really hard working and great with the dogs. I even took up some trousers for one of them! He brought them in on the second day and as I’m a seamstress, was able to hand them back before lunchtime!

Most definitely! Everyone was so nice, it’s a shame to see them leave!
