What’s on in Surrey in 2020

3 min read Local

As we’ve been based in Woking since 1972, we’ve had the pleasure of working throughout stunning Surrey for nearly 50 years! Littered with fascinating sights and stimulating activities, some of which we’ve compiled into a handy list, Surrey has plenty to keep you entertained this coming year:

Ice skating at the Guilford SpectrumIce skating

Guildford Spectrum is home to an Olympic sized ice rink, which you along with any family or friends can whizz around on a pair of ice skates all year round. But if ice skating doesn’t do it for you, then why not try tenpin bowling or swimming here instead?

The venue is also hosting a number of Guildford Flames fixtures this January. So, you can enjoy some scintillating ice hockey action here too.

Weyfest Music Festival in Farnham

Set in the stunning Surrey Hills, Weyfest in Farnham was voted Best Small Festival in the Skiddle 18th Birthday Awards. Having seen the likes of UB40, The Waterboys, Buzzcocks, 10cc, Level 42, The Beat and even Guildford’s own, The Stranglers, grace the festival’s 4 stages in previous years, you don’t need to travel far if you want to hear some great sounds this summer.

Godalming, Kingston and Leatherhead also tend to put on their own food festivals during the year.

Heritage Open Days

Explore some of England’s finest architectural feats and learn more about local history and culture. Running from the 11th to the 20th of September absolutely free! Heritage Open Days provide free access to everything from historic castles to old town halls, factories and houses, all of which are usually restricted from public access or you have to pay to attend.

Woking Food and Drink FestivalTeriyaki Salmon

From the 4th to the 6th of September 2020, people will travel from across Surrey and beyond to the Woking Food and Drink Festival to indulge in some of the finest foods and delightful drinks that the county has to offer. Based on last year’s festival, you can also expect to see demonstrations from celebrity and local chefs. You could even enhance your own culinary prowess by checking out a host of expert talks too! An excellent mix of street entertainment and live music should also accompany the host of culinary delights on offer here.

William Orpen: Method & Mastery

Running from now until the 20th of February 2020, Watts Gallery – Artists’ Village in Compton is running an exhibit on Irish-born painter William Orpen, one of the leading portraitists of his era. Perfect for enthusiasts of the avant-garde, attendees can observe a variety of his works and learn much about the artistic process of one of the most expressive painters the world has seen.
